Verloskundigenpraktijk Doevendans

2 pregnancies, 2 babies so twice an expectant mother under supervision at Doevendans!! We chose Doevendans during my second pregnancy because of the wonderful experience and attention we recieved with our first... Wonderful wonderful people and their service is just top notch! I promised one of the midwives/ Carers I would share a tale, proving how well prepared I was for my delivery thanks to Doevendans....: My second pregnancy was very different to my first.. Due to 1 miscarrage and 2 ectopics (buitenbaarmoederlijk zwangerschap) I unfortuntely lost my fallopian tubes.. So the only means of my concieving a second time was via IVF.. Not even a 50% chance of success... But we really really wanted a second baby.... So we went for it anyway..! By some miracle.. First extraction, first egg, first embyo implant.... it worked! We were pregnant! So we went directly to the people we trusted most when it came to expecting a baby....Doevendans.. They were completely up to date and informed with regards to our pregnancy process and were ready for action.. We recieved extra information and were able to drop by when ever we wanted just to check up on our little on (heartbeat etc..). If concerns ever arose we were encouraged to call regardless how minor or insignificant the issue or question was... I felt totally at ease and relaxed during my entire pregnancy, thanks to Doevendans's helpful, friendly and caring staff. We decided we would like to deliver our baby in the hospital, like we did with our first baby. Only this time everything didn't quite go according to plan.... Early morning (02:15) on August the 24th my contractions started.. So, we moniterd them for a while.. Every 2 mins, 5 mins, 3 mins.... After about an hour of unregular contractions we decided to try and get some sleep.... I woke abrubtly and in a panic at 06.00am to Push-contractions... Couldn't be.! I had only been in labour 3 odd hours!! My husband called Doevendans.. Who told him not to panic.. Rebecca was in the neighbourhood and would stop by shortly just to check up on us... We were to be prepared to leave for the hospital and again to prepare for a long and exhausting day!! 06.05.. Another contraction.. SPLASH.... My water broke..! All over my bed We weren't ready for this!! Rebecca wasn't here, we had nothing prepared (as we would deliver in the hospital) and now everyone in the house (my daughter, husband and my Mother) was in a bit of a panic...! So, I just decided to do what Doevendans had advised... Stay calm... Focus on what I am doing, try and get as comfortable as possible and breath with the contraction...... 06.15.. The doorbell rang... My husband ran downstairs to let Rebecca in.... No sooner had they walked up the stairs and opened the bedroom door.... Floop..... Out flew my son!! Who landed comfortably on our bed! Rebecca and my husband just looked on in disbelief!! "Unbelievable Jane! This is typical of you!" Responded Rebecca jokingly..! (referring to my personality.. Spontanious, relaxed and just go with the flow..)... She lifted him off the matras and placed him on my chest.. Everything went perfectly! He was perfect, I was perfect (I didn't even need stitches!!) Everything has just gone perfectly..!! There was no need for us to go to the hospital, not even for a checkup!! "You could have given birth under a tree in Africa!!" Rebecca joked again!! The Home maternity care company had been called and were on their way... And so was Rebecca!! She was very proud of how everything went... And happy nothing went wrong and everyone was fine! Even though delivering my son sounds scarey.. It really couldn't have gone smoother or faster!! I was in labour for less than 4 1/2 hours, I didn't have to get out of bed, everyone was there when I needed them and my beautiful new born son and I were in perfect health..... I thank Doevendans for preparing me for my delivery.. Reminding me to stay calm.... Not to panic.. Remember my breathing and to go with the flow.. breath with the contraction...! My son is now 8 weeks old and is our little miracle! His Father, older sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles and "Go with the flow" Mother, love him dearly! Thank you Doevendans! We will miss you and wish to thank you for taking such good of me and my babies.. You will always have a special place in our memories and hearts
