I would like to share about tuberculosis (TB) on behalf of my friend (gentleman). Few months ago he has noticed a swollen lymph node on his left side of the neck. It became bigger after few days. He had contacted many doctors to figure out what happened.  The doctors referred him to many blood tests, lymph node biopsy, several times medical checkup and many X-ray examinations. At the end, they said nothing serious to worry about it. However, he did not give up and asked one of the doctors to remove the swollen lymph node based on his risk. The doctor guided him to doctor P.J.F.M. Lohuis (KNO-arts in Diakonessenhuis, Utrecht, The Netherlands), which was the saver (hero!) and the solver of this situation. Dr. Lohuis decided to remove the swollen in a very smart way using all his experience in this complicated situation. The surgery was successful and helped to diagnose the patient with TB involving lymph node, although he has no symptoms of TB such as cough, weight loss, and fever or chest pain. After being diagnosed with TB, he has taken 4 drugs for 2 months. In the meantime the bacterium was very sensitive to the drug, and thus the treatment was successful according to the plan. Most importantly, the swollen of the lymph node is completely disappeared gradually after 2 months from the surgery. The drugs were then reduced to 2 and continue for other 4 months. He started to have his normal life back again, although he felt lots of tiredness during the course of the treatment. He is very grateful to Dr. Lohuis for his valuable experience to deal with the TB involving swollen lymph node. Cheers everyone, especially those with TB involving swollen lymph node. You will cure and you do not need to be scared at all because TB is curable disease. Never give up, and keep up your smiley face.
